EOWCFC Chapter 24 – Danger! There is no Dock for Zombies

As soon as the RV left the area of the community, and soon after getting on the highway, they saw a lot of zombies meaandering unconsciously on the road.

The sound of the RV’s motor agitated the zombies; they gathered toward the source of the sound, and soon a wall of zombies had formed in front of the RV. Zhen Yilong didn’t panic when he saw it. He stepped on the accelerator and smashed into them. He understood the ins and outs of this RV and what materials it was made of. These small collisions would not have any effect on this guy.

While hearing the continuous sounds of violent collisions, Chu Zhitian and others sitting in the RV also felt the strong vibration. Soon the RV rushed out of this encircling wave of zombies, leaving behind the unwilling roar of the zombies.

Fortunately, it was still the beginning of the end of the world, and the zombies have basically not evolved, otherwise they would not be so easily thrown off.

After rushing through the block of zombies one after another, Zhen Yilong’s voice sounded in the RV: “Chu-ge, we will arrive at the dock in one kilometer.”

Chu Zhitian pushed open a sliding cover on the seat’s handle, revealing a display screen. He directly scratched the screen and said: “Find a place where there are fewer zombies and let us down.”

“Yes.” Zhen Yilong replied immediately. As his voice sounded, Zhen Yilong’s face also appeared on the screen. Xiao Ziling glanced curiously, and sighed that this RV was so advanced and luxurious.

Soon, Zhen Yilong chose a relatively secluded road and turned onto it. Sure enough, there were not many zombies on the road, and there were only a dozen within the visible range. This was very easy for Chu Zhitian and the others to clean up.

Dai Hongfei was the first to get out of the RV, and directly dealt with the zombies that had rushed over when they heard the noise.

Lu Yuntao was the next to get out of the RV, and when his sight landed on the howling zombie, he whispered lowly: “Winding wind.”

A faintly visible tornado suddenly appeared in the sky, lifting the approaching zombie up. It reached a height of about 20 meters, and then fell viciously.

If an ordinary person fell from this height, they may be directly killed, but that is not necessarily the case for a zombie; if it does not happen to be killed in the fall–becoming a rotten watermelon and directly KO–otherwise, at most the hands and feet will be broken, but these do not matter to the zombies, and they can still act. Sure enough, the zombie that Lu Yuntao steamrolled with his power only broke a pair of legs and was still tenaciously inching forward with its hands, crawling towards him and howling.

“Yuntao, your lethality is not good!” Seeing this scene, Dai Hongfei, who just happened to deal with a zombie on the side, began to tease Lu Yuntao.

Lu Yuntao was undoubtedly depressed. It is true that the lack of lethality has always been his sore point, but he has no way to improve it. Who set it up so that after awakening what he received was not the big wind blade with wind power, but just the skill of wind control? With that, if he wanted to get powerfully lethal skills, he could only wait for the next advancement of his ability.

At this time, Xiao Ziling, Dong Haozhe, and Chu Zhitian got out of the RV one after another. When Xiao Ziling saw that some zombies around were attracted by the sound of the RV, he didn’t even think about it, and rushed out with his knife.

These were zombies that had not evolved. It did not take much effort for Xiao Ziling to clean them up. Holding a Tang knife that he barely felt the weight of in his hand, his wrists moved a few times, and a few battles were already concluded. The zombies fell apart, and their heads fell to the ground; they had completely lost their lives.

In less than a few seconds, the zombies attracted by the RV were cleaned up. Chu Zhitian asked Zhen Yilong to wait in the RV for their return, while he took Dong Haozhe and the others into the dock on foot.

After avoiding several batches of zombies, everyone finally reached the edge of the dock. The dry port wharf is the largest wharf in Shanghai. As soon as they approached, they saw the boundless wharf filled with countless containers. At the end of the wharf, regardless of where the freighters were docked, many of them had not even been loaded or unloaded. The freighters obviously hadn’t had time to complete their shipments.

Xiao Ziling’s eyes glowed; these are all supplies.

There is still a lot of space in my own space. If I can directly collect the container…

Xiao Ziling’s cheeks flushed in excitement, and his breathing became unexpectedly short.

With a bang, someone knocked on his head again, and Xiao Ziling turned his head reflexively and saw that Chu Zhitian’s stern face was despising him for being so agitated.

I don’t believe you are completely calm! Xiao Ziling didn’t dare to glare at Chu Zhitian, so he could only complain.

Lu Yuntao was also a little excited when he saw so many supplies. He turned his head and asked softly, “Captain Chu, can I go to investigate?”

“Hold on, something is wrong.” Chu Zhitian was very cautious and raised his head to stop Lu Yuntao from wanting to leave right away.

Chu Zhitian frowned, and his face was solemn. At this time, the scene of the dock was basically clear… there were no zombies wandering in it at all. This is not scientific. Everyone knows that the people on the docks come and go, even just the workers who unload and load the cargo. There were usually enough people to make one cautious, not to mention the other sailors and merchants also coming and going. But now there were no zombies, and it felt weird no matter how one looked at it.

Chu Zhitian remembered what Chen Jingwen had told him; is there really a high-level zombie that he can’t resist in this dock? It’s only the fifth day after the end of the world… Chu Zhitian’s mood is a little heavy. If there is such a powerful zombie here, it can be predicted that Shencheng will become a paradise for zombies. If people didn’t evacuate right away, he was afraid that few people would be able to get out alive.

Whether there were horrible zombies or not, detection was necessary, because this time Chu Zhitian and Chen Jingwen were aiming at a certain oil tanker on the coast. It is foreseeable that gasoline will become a rare material. At this time, more can be stored. And they must find the tanker among so many freighters.

This operation was not unprepared. The team’s wireless headset communication equipment, made by Lu Yuntao, was worn by everyone. The main unit was a mobile phone-sized display screen, which Chu Zhitian placed on everyone in order to know the position of each team member. Everyone can share the report of their explorations, and they can ask for help as soon as they encounter danger.

“The situation is very strange. I can’t see the wandering zombies here. I am afraid it will be dangerous. You must be careful when you act. If there is an abnormal situation, you must contact me immediately, and you are not allowed to act alone.” Chu Zhitian told everyone, “You four people must keep a distance of about 200 meters from me, and I will announce my location at any time. Did each of you remember the positions of the dock clearly?”

“Yes, understood!” everyone said in unison.

“Okay!” Chu Zhitian looked around at the crowd, waved his hand, and said, “let’s begin.”

Following this order, the four quickly dispersed in four directions, Xiao Ziling was the fastest, and quickly dashed into this area. He disappeared into the forest of containers.

Chu Zhitian looked at the cargo ships at the end of the dock, and after a comparison, he directly chose the nearest route to go through this maze of containers, his face calm and calm. Withdraw from danger? Then he wouldn’t be Chu Zhitian.

A Giraffe Has Some Words: The author jumps around a bit with the tense of these verbs. The story is primarily written in past tense, but some of their tense changes kinda make sense, so I’ll leave those and only focus on changing the ones that–in my opinion–seem to disrupt the story immersion. Please let me know if that’s acceptable for you all, or if you’d rather it all be past tense. I hesitate to change the author’s work more than I already have to, but if it’s really hindering your reading experience, I’ll consider doing that.
