EOWCFC Chapter 31 – Escape… The Price of Overdrafting is Your Life!

While Chu Zhitian was still considering what to do, Xiao Ziling suddenly had the idea of setting his mental power up as a barrier. He had been able to block the mental power attack of the previous zombie, so would it be effective?

    When he quietly reached out with his mental power and tried to surround him and Chu Zhitian, a powerful attack suddenly struck.

    Xiao Ziling’s actions seemed useless, but were actually not in vain. He proved that their enemy was indeed a spirit-type zombie, that it could maintain the stability of the illusory world while also attacking mentally, and his strength might have reached Tier 4 or higher. 

 Chu Zhitian thought heavily.

Chu Zhitian raised his eyebrows, and a cold voice followed: “Forbidden zone!” As soon as his voice fell, the 5-meter space around Chu Zhitian suddenly distorted, and finally shattered and dissipated in the air like a mirror. At this time, in the sight of Xiao Ziling and Chu Zhitian, the whole picture was strange, as if a hole was forcibly dug in the middle of a painting.     However, there were more and more zombies approaching, and they rushed in without fear of death. Undoubtedly, this spirit zombie mobilized all the surrounding zombies, trying to use them as cannon fodder to consume Chu Zhitian’s abilities.

    Although he understood the spiritual zombie’s purpose, Chu Zhitian had no other options. He could only use abilities to clean up the zombies that tried to approach them one by one. The concern in his eyes became more and more serious. If he kept going at this rate, he could only continue like this for half an hour at most.

    “Chu-ge, let me down, I can still fight.” Watching from atop Chu Zhitian’s back, Xiao Ziling knew that this would not work. Although his legs were weak, he could stand up, which could help Chu Zhitian gain an edge and clean up the zombies.

    “Xiaoling, has your speed ability recovered yet?” Chu Zhitian did not respond, but asked in a low voice. 

“After the time I’ve spent resting, it should be fine.” 

“At most, how long can you carry me if you take me?” Chu Zhitian asked in detail, so it was clear that it was related to his and Xiao Ziling’s plan to survive.

    Hearing that, Xiao Ziling silently thought about it, then slowly said: “Five minutes!” This time was concluded in spite of both the state of his legs and his abilities, but when it came to life or death, he would push himself past his limits.

    “That should be enough.” Chu Zhitian seemed to have made some major decision, clearly and forcefully enunciating every word to Xiao Ziling, “Xiaoling, after I use the sky-piercing ability, we’ll run at top speed. Support as long as you can, and the farther you can run, the better. If you can contact Dong Haozhe, then we can quickly reconvene.” 

Whether they could escape depended on Xiao Ziling’s speed–which was already overdrawn. A severe test. Xiao Ziling smiled suddenly, and asked playfully, “Chu-ge, is there compensation for team members who are injured in the line of duty?”

    Suddenly hearing a witty remark that didn’t fit the intense life-or-death atmosphere, Chu Zhitian couldn’t help being taken aback, and for a moment he couldn’t react. Xiao Ziling laughed “hehe” and continued: “Don’t worry, Chu-ge, I know what to do.”

    Chu Zhitian gave Xiao Ziling a side-eye glance, always feeling that something was wrong, but then another batch of zombies attacked him so he could only temporarily postpone any questions. Still suspicious, began to clean up this batch of zombies, and repeated: “Remember, you run in the direction from where we came, don’t run in the wrong direction.” 

“I got it, Chu-ge.” Xiao Ziling said carefully, after listening, indicating his full understanding.

    Chu Zhitian silently lowered Xiao Ziling to the ground and mentally calculated; whether he could rush out of the zombie’s illusory world depended on his next two attacks. If they succeeded, Xiao Ziling could take them out. If they fail, Chu Zhitian’s arrangements will be useless.

    Splaying the five fingers of his hand wide open, with the wind whipping through his hair, Chu Zhitian sneered and brusquely yelled: “Sky net!” 

With this order, the entire space within his sight was immediately covered by countless lightning bolts. The piercing electric shocks and the crackling sounds from all over the dock kept resounding one after another.

    Chu Zhitian’s sky net was stronger than the last time he used it at the pharmacy. Not to mention that the scope had become wider, even the power of the grid had also increased by a level.

    The surrounding environment suddenly distorted under the brilliant illumination of electric power, until the zombie’s illusion was finally overwhelmed by the huge amount of Chu Zhitian’s electric energy, and finally burst and disappeared. At this time, the scene that appeared in front of Chu Zhitian and Xiao Ziling was an endless group of zombies.

    It turned out that they had been surrounded by thousands of zombies. Upon seeing this scene, Xiao Ziling’s face changed drastically. He had died in a group of zombies in his previous life. Seeing a similar scene, becoming frightened and confused was unavoidable.

    A stern voice sounded in Xiao Ziling’s ears: “Pierce the sky!”

    Amidst the zombie group to Xiao Ziling’s right, a 100 meter long bolt of lightning suddenly appeared. The zombies within the range of the lightning bolt suddenly turned into blood foam and disappeared completely. No piece of flesh or blood was left behind.

    In an instant, the place where the piercing cut had flashed became completely, and no more zombies stood in their path.

    “Run!” Chu Zhitian’s extremely weak voice came from beside him. Xiao Ziling reacted quickly, directly picking up Chu Zhitian, using his speed ability, and leaving at the fastest speed towards the passage cleared by Chu Zhitian’s cut.

    In his hurry, Xiao Ziling only glanced at Chu Zhitian. Even with just that glance, Xiao Ziling’s heart was shaken. What he saw left a deep mark in his heart, and also affected his future decisions, changing his outlook on life.

    Chu Zhitian’s hair had turned white at that moment!

    He had overdrafted his skills at the cost of his life to create the opportunity for the two to escape. Xiao Ziling’s eyes moistened with tears while running away.

Let me just say, this chapter is the longest chapter so far and whew! I ALMOST wanted to break it into parts, but as a reader, I dislike that quite a bit, so I wouldn’t want to put you all through that… anyway, this chapter, amirite? When Chu Zhitian yelled “Sky net!” I was like “OH, SO YOU’RE THE TERMINATOR NOW?”  and had to take a break because I was laughing so hard XD. Also, when Xiaoling cracked an inappropriately-timed joke and said “hehe”I was so proud. For all of us who make awkward jokes at the most tense times… Idk, I just felt so seen hahaha.
