Introduction

Hi, everyone! I’m Asocial Giraffe. Welcome to my blog!

I want to share my manga transcriptions. I really love manga and truly appreciate all of the fan translations available by various sources. I love casually curling myself up into a blanket-burrito and starting a new story.

I also love reading web novels. It’s like curling up with a good book, except you’re curling up with your phone/tablet/laptop. Ehh… it’s not exactly the same, but it’s still great, hehe.

There are some epic visual novels that tell amazing stories and have evocative art, and I have always really enjoyed them. I’m not exaggerating when I say: I’ve read some visual novels that have changed my life.

That being said, I think it’s pretty sad that some of us can’t enjoy any part of visual novels (neither the story nor the art) just because our eyes suffer from some sort of impairment. I can only imagine how different I’d be if I’d never read any of my favorite webcomics… so I started transcribing.

My goal in making these transcriptions is for people to be able to paste the URL of the transcription into their text-to-speech reader and experience the story that way. It shouldn’t matter which TTS app you use, whether it’s on your personal computer or your phone. I know it isn’t the same as being able to experience the art of the novel, but I’m going to try my best to make sure that everyone gets the full story.

However, these transcriptions will be useful to people who aren’t visually impaired, too. Just like audiobooks or podfics, I think manga can be made accessible this way, too. I use my TTS (text-to-speech) reader to read all sorts of things: webnovels, fanfictions, emails, articles, etc. when I’m driving, cleaning, working, or just feeling too lazy to keep my eyes open.

Sometimes I want to read when I’m around other people (this is rare, since I’m asocial haha) but I don’t want anyone looking over my shoulder. A manga transcription would be perfect for that!

Reading the transcription won’t be the same as reading the manga/manhua/manhwa/webcomic. There are some inherent differences because of the medium, but if you have an idea, I strongly encourage you to make suggestions. This is new to me, too! I want to be the best transcribing giraffe the world’s ever seen!

Thanks guys,

–Asocial Giraffe
